This week's Proverbial Moment

Why Me, why now?For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 LTWhy am I having to deal with this? Why did I lose my job? Why can't I find a job? Why am I sick? Why did my unwed child get pregnant? Why haven't I found a wife? Why hasn't my husband-to-be found me? Why did my marriage fall apart? Why am I having problems with my child? Why does it seem like everyone else is doing great but me? What in the world is going on? Why me, why now?Does any of that sound familiar? Does any of that sound like you? Can I be transparent and share something with you? In 2010, when I got sick, I became a little weary. After months and months of being stuck, probed and then finally being diagnosed with a rare disease called auto-immune hepatitis, that day came when I asked God, "Why? Why me, why now?" I couldn't understand his plan, nor his timing. However, God reminded me that his thoughts are nothing like my thoughts and his ways are far beyond anything I can imagine. Isaiah 55:8Are you asking God, "Why me, why now?" Are you struggling with accepting what he has allowed? Are you feeling alone, afraid or maybe even a little angry? Rest assured, you're not alone, we have all been there at some point and time in our lives. God knows your heart, he knows your concerns and he is concerned about those things that concern you. I'm probably not telling you anything you don't know already but sometimes we just have to be reminded. I've been having to remind myself and others lately to just trust God. God knows what's best for each one of us. He allowed whatever you're experiencing, so obviously there's a reason. God doesn't just allow something to be allowing it. Everything he does has a purpose and that purpose will work out for your good.Why me, why now? Why not you, why not now? You're the right person and this is the right time. If not, God wouldn't have allowed it. Trust him!

Do you ever find yourself wanting to talk to people about Jesus but feel a little intimidated or maybe not sure how to start the conversation? Well even though other saints may not want to admit it, there are times in all of our lives when we find ourselves in situations like that. Personally, I've been there before myself but in order to lead the lost to Christ, at some point you're going to have to "Talk About Jesus." The purpose of this page is to provide you with tips and other information that will hopefully assist you and make it easier for you to witness to others about the goodness of Jesus Christ and share the gift of Salvation. We pray that something you read here will better equip you and encourage you to talk about Jesus. There are 2.5 billion people in the world who have never been introduced to Jesus Christ. Some of these people are ready for a change; they're ready to try something other than what they've been trying. They're tired of hurting, they're frustrated with the worlds way of doing things and you have the answer...His name is Jesus Christ! So we challenge you, to talk to one new person today about the goodness of Jesus and share the gift of Salvation with them. You never know, you might be the very one to prevent that person from spending eternity in hell, so go ahead and "Talk About Jesus." We've also created "TAJ" Christian apparel that will hopefully provoke conversations about Jesus, opening the door for you to witness to others. ABOUT US

David and Valissa are born again, baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. They have dedicated their lives and ministry to the edification of God'’s people, by preaching God’'s Word with simplicity, speaking words of inspiration, and teaching life applicable lessons. They are passionate about seeing the lost saved, the saved transformed and God glorified! In 1988 Rev. Valissa Moore began ministering in song and then God later appointed and anointed her to preach his word with simplicity so that even a child might understand it. In 1998 at the leading of the Holy Spirit she and her husband Minister David Moore founded Moore and Moore Ministries. In June 2001 Moore and Moore Ministries began spreading the gospel by way of radio for a season. The name of the broadcast was “Beyond The Veil.” Via the broadcast, tape ministry and website, Moore and Moore Ministries has been able to impact lives in the United States, Africa and Australia.In 2006 the couple felt led to change the name of the ministry to Moore and Moore Ministries International and in 2007 began sending out a weekly devotional called "Proverbial Moment." On a weekly basis this devotional ministers to thousands in the U.S., Africa and Asia. In that same year the couple introduced a line of Christian Apparel called "TAJ" which stands for "Talk About Jesus." In 2007 they began offering conferences for couples to help strengthen and restore marriages called the BTV Conferences. David and Valissa are both anointed teachers and preachers of the gospel, down to earth and are excited to be servants of God. Born to sing created to worship! Rev. Valissa Moore may be internationally known for her weekly online devotional "Proverbial Moment" but long before she began to preach the Word of God and write weekly devotionals she was ministering God's Word through song. Rev. Moore began singing at the tender age of 15 but wouldn't have known that she could sing had her mom not forced her to join the Youth Choir at her church. In her early 20's she pursued a career singing secular music and released a CD with Empire Records but later completely surrendered her talent to God and returned to her roots and began ministering contemporary, traditional, gospel music. Rev. Moore has starred in plays, opened for well known artists, performed on television programs, at prisons, churches, etc. Once you hear the voice that comes out of this anointed woman of God, you will be left wanting more and more! The Beyond The Veil Couples' Conference is an annual conference given by Moore and Moore Ministries to help strengthen and restore marriages. The divorce rate in our country right now is extremely high and in Malachi 2:16 God says, "I hate divorce!" We believe God has commissioned us to provide these conferences/workshops for a season to discuss issues that couples have questions about but don't feel comfortable asking in a regular church setting. In these conferences, our goal is to allow the Bible to provide us with the answers to the problems that are attacking marriages today. In previous conferences we've discussed issues that some would consider taboo but they MUST be addressed. We are so excited about what God is doing and how he's healing and restoring marriages through these conferences. We can provide you with the information but it's up to you to apply that information. Couples that have applied what they've learned at the BTV Conferences have seen a remarkable difference in their marriages.The conference theme for 2012 is "Til Death Do Us Part!"
Look for the "I Like Me" Bible Study /Conference in 2012! Learning to love the me I see, the one that God created me to be! It can be hard sometimes to like/love ourselves because we're so busy focusing on what we don't like. When asking a group of people to list the things they like and don't like about themselves, the list of "don't likes" are normally longer than the list of "likes" and it takes us longer to compile the list of "Likes." We have been conditioned by the world to think that beauty looks a certain way and if we don't fit into that mold we're not beautiful. God made each one of us unique and that's what's so special and powerful. There's only one of you so embrace who you are because you're fearfully and wonderfully made.

Keep the Fire Alive
Parasites In My MarriageParasites need to be destroyed in our marriages before they are given the chance to latch on and eat away at our marital existence. Addiction to pornography is a parasite but it's not something people/couples find easy to talk about and naturally so. However, addiction to pornography is real and hurting marriage relationships. When you watch pornography you open yourself up to fantasies that you will eventually expect your mate to live up to and when that doesn't happen it causes all kinds of problems within the marriage bedroom. Proverbs 5:15-23 says, "Drink water from your own well—share your love only with your wife. Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone? You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers. Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth. She is a loving deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love. Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman? For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness." God tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that the temptations in our lives are no different from what others experience. And it reminds us that God is faithful. It promises us that He will not allow the temptation to be more than we can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. In Fire Proof, Caleb is tempted to watch pornography on his computer but he knows if he allows himself to, it will open up something inside of him that will cause his marriage to spiral backwards.

Keep the Fire Alive In Your Marriage!1. Have a picnic in the center of your living room. Spread out a blanket, fill a basket with your favorite foods, light some candles or burn the fireplace and enjoy a romantic picnic in doors.2. Write a poem to your spouse telling her/him what they mean to you and seal it with a lipstick kiss or spray it with your perfume/cologne.3. Call and leave a message on their cell phone or voicemail at home telling them how blessed you are that God gave them to you.4. Pretend you're dating again. Let him get dressed and leave the house while you get dressed and let him come back and ring the doorbell as if he's there to court you. You can choose to sit on the couch and kiss and cuddle or you can go out and kiss and cuddle when you get back home. 5. Schedule a his and her massage. Provide the oil, soft music, candles and a blanket. The two of you will take turns massaging each other. You normally won't get a complete massage :-).6. Create a list of all the things you love about your spouse and put it in the front seat of their car.7. Create a rose pedal trail. Purchase some rose pedals from a floristsand create a trail for your spouse to follow (you can normally purchase them pretty cheap). 8. Create a special invitation inviting your spouse to a romantic dinner at home or at a restaurant.9. Give your spouse the O.K. to shop for a special romantic negligee date night and model it for them.10. Create index cards with special love messages on them and hide them throughout the house for your spouse to stumble across.

Renewing The Mind
I'’m quite sure almost everyone has heard the quote “"Garbage In Garbage Out”" well until recently I did not completely see the truth behind that quote.As some of you may know, I am a dancer so one day I was on the internet looking at some dance choreography, I came across a particular routine that was catchy, however the music wasn'’t the “cleanest.”In my mind I thought to myself… “I’m just looking at the choreography I could care less about what’'s being said in the music.” So I watched the video anyways, I even book marked it and went back several times to watch it again.Well a few days later I realized that the song was stuck in my head and I had even memorized the lyrics! The same thing happened when I watched a particular movie (I can'’t remember the name of it now) but it wasn’t the cleanest movie in the world. The next day and on into the week I realized that my thinking wasn't “pure or clean” like it should be.*Wait a minute… I am being real with you guys, there is no need for any of us to try and act like we are perfect because we're not!Anyway …the point is, the things that I watched and the music that I listened to affected my mind, actions and heart! I had never realized how much that kind of stuff can affect us until then. Shortly after, God allowed me to be able to take a Bible study class on renewing the mind!There are many reasons why we as Christians don’'t take this seriously. One reason is because renewing the mind is hard on the flesh, and requires absolute commitment. However, I believe one of the main reasons is because we don'’t really have a full understanding of what renewing the mind really is! With all that being said, the next subject I'’ll write about will be... you guessed it, "“Renewing the Mind."” However, before we get into the study I want you guys to do something for me; it is sort of an experiment.For a few days pay close attention to what you watch and listen to as well as the company you hang around. The first day do not change any of things you would normally do, just live that day like you would any other day. Listen to the same music and watch what you normally would and hang around the same people you normally would.On the second day monitor what you watch and what you hear as well as the company you hang around. (Eliminating cursing, sexual content etc)Keep track of how you feel, think and act between that period of time and look at the differences based on what you allow inside your mind and heart.The results are only for you, you do not have to share the results with anyone unless you just want to share it as a testimony. He Rose For You!

If you were to die right now, would you go to heaven or hell? If you said, "Hell or I'm not sure" read further.The Bible lets us know that one day everyone of us will have to stand before God and give an account for our lives? For Christians it will be a time of rejoicing but for others, it will be a time of torment.Anyone who has chosen not to invite Jesus into their hearts will spend eternity in hell and in utter darkness, being constantly reminded of their choice to reject Jesus. Don't let hell be where you spend eternity!Make a decision right now to welcome Jesus into your heart. He is the difference between heaven or hell!The Bible reveals to us what we must do in order to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.First we must...1. Admit that we're a sinner (Psalm 51:5)2. Repent/change (1 John 1:9)3. Confess Jesus as Lord and Savior and believe in our hearts. (Romans 10:9-10)

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17 LT

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Romans 10:9-11 LT

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 LT
Salvation PrayerHeavenly Father, I come to you just as I am, longing to know you, your ways and your plans for my life. I repent right now of my sins and believe that they are forgiven, never to be remembered again. I believe that Jesus is your son, was born of a virgin, walked among men, taught us your ways, was crucified on the cross, was buried in a tomb and resurrected on the third day by you with all power. I invite Jesus to come into my heart at this very moment, fill me father with your Holy Spirit and have your way in my life. Help me not to sin against you and open my mind that I might understand your word (the Bible). In Jesus' Name, Amen.
New BabeAs a new babe in Christ you must understand that the Bible is the written Word of God and has been given to us so that we might get to know Him, His ways and His will for our lives. You must read your Bible daily. Start out reading 5-10 minutes a day and then gradually increase your reading time. Pray before you begin and ask God to open your understanding (Luke 24:45). Read the gospel according to John, Acts, and The Epistles written by Paul before reading the rest of the Bible. Make sure you have a good study Bible. And pray for God to direct you to the church you should become a member of if you're not a member of a church already. It's very important to surround yourself with other Christian's and good Bible teaching
